Pelvic floor dysfunction in women: current understanding of the problem

Here we review the recent literature on pelvic floor dysfunction, which is increasingly common in women of reproductive age and represents a significant medical problem occurring as result injured ligaments. Pelvic dysfunction largely associated with vaginal delivery might lead to urinary fecal incontinence well organ prolapse. Intraabdominal hypertension, nerve damage, obesity, genetic predisposition are among major contributors dysfunction. Being asymptomatic at early stage, gradually leads irreversible alterations anatomy, ultimately deteriorating quality life. Surgery remains gold standard treatment prolapse, yet POP-Q stage I-II prolapse should be treated conservatively. Currently, there no specific regimens evidence-based opinion regarding Kegel exercises laser therapy. Biofeedback muscle training choice for incontinence. Use pessaries another efficient approach conservative treatment.
